Privacy Policy

Last Updated: August 2025

1. Overview

This Privacy Policy explains how Matrix 2.0 Homenetlink Chat Platform handles your data. This is a self-hosted service run by a private individual, not a company. Data is stored locally and on attached storage (NAS) as part of server operations.

2. Data We Store

3. How Data Is Used

Your data is used only to provide the core functions of this Matrix service: delivering messages, media, and authentication. It will never be sold, shared, or monetized.

4. Data Disclosure

The administrator may disclose stored data if required by applicable law, or if necessary to respond to credible threats, CSAM, or other illegal activity.

5. Security

Reasonable measures are taken to protect stored data; however, this is a home-operated system with limited resources. Absolute security cannot be guaranteed.

6. E2EE (End-to-End Encryption)

Any chat rooms, spaces, or direct messages that utilize E2EE can not be decrypted by this server. It is strongly recommended that you create a backup encryption key upon account creation or you will no longer be able to recover previous messages.

7. Retention

Media may be removed from the fast local cache after 30 days of inactivity but will be retained on long-term storage unless manually deleted. Accounts may be terminated at any time per the Terms of Service.

8. Your Rights

You may request deletion of your account and associated personal data at any time by contacting the administrator.

9. Updates

This Privacy Policy may be updated at any time. Continued use of the Service indicates acceptance of the revised policy.

If you have questions about this Privacy Policy, please contact the server administrator.
